It’s good practice to not overwrite core Magento code – updates can overwrite your changes, and you’ll always have working code to fall back to if you have issues with your modules, etc. It’s not strictly necessary in this example, however, to create a new template.

I don’t undestand from this tutorial why I should use a new template (fido). I want to use a new module and not redesign all my website.

The plugins is working fine !!!
You just have to specified to users that the

{{block type=”fido_example/view” my_custom=”Test” template=”example/view.phtml” }}

Line has to be in the SOURCE part of the wysiwyg.

Hi, greetings! i did not managed to get the message of “hello world” out after following all the steps. I have uploaded all the .php, .phtml into the filezilla but still it did not appear on the magento website. Can you tell me how to solve the problem?thanks in advance!

highlight somewhere in main POST to clear cache to test this code. without refreshing cache its will not appear
